The Toothboss increases safety measures at Weymouth dental practice

September 14, 2020

Dr. Richard Wolfert, DMD, a South Weymouth, MA dentist, recently installed extra strength oral suction machines to the operatory rooms at his 1121 Main Street practice. The high-powered Vaniman Vanguard Gold Mobile Extraoral Suction machines provide further protection for patients and staff against the possible spread of the corona virus.

“When we do treatment on patients—whether it be a filling or a deep cleaning with our Cavitron—an aerosol is created. The new suction machines suck that aerosol right out air, greatly reducing the chance of the spread of any germs through the air,” said Dr. Wolfert. “This is an additional layer of protection on top of the two Medify air purifiers we installed to cut down the chances of our patients or our staff being exposed to any aerosolized bacteria or viruses.”

Upon reopening in June, The Toothboss implemented a new protocol for patients entering the practice. This included such measures as only one person in the waiting room at a time, temperature taking and surveys upon arrival, masks and gloves for patients, a Povidone rinse for patients and misting of the operatories after each patient visit, etc.

“People had concerns about returning to the dentist. During the shutdown, we did a lot of research on how to make our practice as safe as possible and we went above and beyond both the American Dental Association and CDC guidelines,” said Dr. Wolfert. “I think patients appreciate the efforts we have made, and everyone has been very cooperative in following the new protocols.”

One of those protocols included extra time for each appointment. This time was added to disinfect the operatory between patients.

For patients who might still be ambivalent about returning, The Toothboss created an informational video detailing the new protocols and safety measures implemented. That can be found at https://www.toothboss.com/why-it-is-safe-to-visit-the-toothboss-video.

“This has been a period like no other in our lifetime,” said Dr. Wolfert. “With these measures in place, we believe we have created a very safe environment for patients to return.”
