The Smiling Neighbor award has been a fixture at The Toothboss for several years now. One thing most if not all of the Smiling Neighbors have in common is that their works are not a one-shot deal. Usually, these individuals go above and beyond for the community on a regular, in some cases, daily basis. That’s certainly true of one of our winners, Richard Bonanno and his Rolling Wave Foundation.
A Scituate resident, Richard accepts donated bikes, fixes them up and then facilitates the distribution of those bicycles to underprivileged families across the U.S. and abroad. At the time The Toothboss recognized him as the Smiling Neighbor recipient, he had fixed and distributed more than 4,700 bicycles.
That number recently grew with Dr. Wolfert’s donation of six bicycles. These bikes were collected at the swap at the Hingham dump, two from the Toothboss’ brother and another from a friend. Check out the photo of Dr. Wolfert transporting those bicycles. If you have any bicycles you’re looking to get rid of, please consider The Rolling Wave Foundation. The Rolling Wave Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit. For more information on making a donation, private message Bonanno via his Facebook page.
